Shapeways Achieves Network Reliability, Scalability and Availability with Cumulus Networks Routing on the Host

ShapeWays, the online 3D printing service and marketplace, needed a more reliable, scalable, and future-proof network to support constant uploads, strict SLAs, and growth across multiple data centers. As part of its data center refresh, the company turned to Cumulus Networks and its Routing on the Host approach to reduce complexity, improve resiliency, and prepare for hybrid cloud deployment.

Cumulus Networks helped ShapeWays build a layer 3 Clos topology using Cumulus Linux and Cumulus Quagga, eliminating layer 2 bridging, STP challenges, and proprietary MLAG dependencies. The new end-to-end Linux environment improved network reliability, availability, and throughput, simplified operations, and lowered total cost of ownership while making the infrastructure more scalable and agile.
