A Cumulus Networks Case Study
Perth Radiological Clinic is a metropolitan radiology practice with 15 sites across Perth that supports internal clinicians and remotely-connected hospital emergency rooms. Faced with continued growth, a small IT team, and mission-critical requirements to make every medical image available in real time to authorized users, the clinic needed a simpler, scalable alternative to a complex Fibre Channel/SAN data center architecture that could meet strict performance and management constraints.
Working with BEarena and Nutanix, the clinic deployed bare‑metal switches running Cumulus Linux alongside Nutanix hyper‑converged infrastructure. The Linux‑based approach was easy for the existing team to adopt, delivered markedly better application performance (PACS, telehealth, BI, email), sped provisioning, and enabled plans for VDI, while cutting costs by eliminating the need for Fibre Channel and specialized storage consultants—freeing IT to focus on critical applications and future growth.
