Citizens Are Researching the Effects of Heat in Their Own Gardens

CurieuzeNeuzen launched CurieuzeNeuzen in de Tuin, a large citizen science project in Flanders involving 5,000 gardens equipped with soil sensors to study the effects of heat and drought. They needed a way to make this complex IoT data understandable and engaging for each participant, so they turned to Cumul.io to build personalized, interactive dashboards.

Using Cumul.io, CurieuzeNeuzen created an online dashboard for every participant that visualized soil temperature highs and lows, temperature trends, humidity, and comparisons with other gardens. The dashboards update daily from sensor readings captured every 15 minutes, helping citizens easily follow the changing conditions in their own gardens while supporting one of the largest IoT-based climate research projects ever rolled out in Flanders.
