A Cummins Case Study
Zhenlong Alcohol Factory, part of Zhenlong Biochemistry Engineering Corporation in Longkou, Shandong, needed a way to use increased methane from its expanded alcohol plant while also meeting growing on-site power demand. Cummins provided the customer with a biogas-based trigeneration solution built around two Cummins C2000N5C low BTU generator sets, along with smart control and heat recovery equipment.
Cummins implemented two 2,000 kW low-calorific-value biogas generator sets with PCC3100 and DMC1000 controls, plus lithium bromide cooling and heat recovery systems, to convert methane into power, cooling, and heating. The system delivered 4 MW of electricity, achieved energy utilization above 80%, operated more than 6,000 hours after commissioning, and was expected to recover the investment within 2 years while also enabling surplus power sales to the grid.
