Yuandong Petrochemical Co. Ltd - Customer Case Study

Yuandong Petrochemical Co. Ltd, a large PTA producer in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, needed a way to put its biogas waste stream to use while also meeting the plant’s high demand for electricity and steam. Cummins supplied a C2000 N5C low-BTU biogas generator set with a PowerCommand control system, along with biogas pretreatment and storage equipment for the project.

Cummins implemented a biogas cogeneration system that converts wastewater-derived biogas into power and steam, using exhaust-gas and supplementary-fired waste heat recovery. The installation delivers about 2 MW of power plus steam output, achieves a heat utilization rate of 80% or more, and is expected to recover its investment within one year, while also supporting 24/7 plant operation and lowering production costs.
