World’s Leading Manufactures for Russian Tug - Customer Case Study

Pella Shipyard, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Russian tugs, needed a propulsion and onboard power package for a new 25.4-by-8.8-meter ASD docking tug being built for the Grifon Company. The vessel had to meet demanding requirements for ice-class operation, maneuverability, reliability, and integrated wheelhouse control, while supporting fi-fi capabilities and severe winter conditions.

Cummins supplied the solution with a pair of K50-M diesel engines, each rated at 1193 kW (1600 HP), to drive Rolls Royce Z-drives, along with two 6B-CP80DMS gen-sets providing 80 kW each for ship services. The result was a tug capable of 12 knots free-running speed and a bollard pull of 23 to 35 tons, depending on specification, while meeting Russian Maritime Register class KM Ice2-Arc4 R3 AUT FF3 WS Tug.
