Versatile Harbour Tug with Cummins QSK60

Sea Link Marine Shipyards needed a versatile harbour tug that could handle both ship assist and towing duties in busy port operations. To meet that requirement, they chose Cummins and its QSK60M diesel engines for propulsion, along with Cummins QSB7-DM generators for onboard electrical power.

Cummins delivered a tug powered by two QSK60M engines, each producing 2,300 HP, driving Rolls-Royce azimuthing units and 2.4-meter controllable-pitch propellers. The result was a highly capable vessel with 57.56 tons of bollard pull ahead, 53.87 tons astern, and a 13.6-knot free-running speed, while also providing better maneuvering response and more engine-room space. The tug additionally gained fire-fighting, dispersant, and towing capabilities for broader operational flexibility.
