A Cummins Case Study
Vantis Life Insurance Company, based in Windsor, Connecticut, needed a reliable way to keep its business running during utility outages after a severe October snowstorm knocked out power for more than a week and disrupted communications with policyholders and more than 130 financial institutions. To protect its 55,000-square-foot building and maintain customer service, the company turned to Cummins and Tower Generator for standby power solutions, including a Cummins DFEK 500 kW generator set and OTPC transfer switch.
Cummins and Tower Generator designed and installed a complete standby power system, consolidating three 1000-amp services into one 2000-amp service and completing the work without disrupting operations. The installation was finished in 27 days, power was restored 12 hours ahead of schedule during the shutdown, and Tower Generator also provided a contingency plan with mobile rental generators available within four hours if needed.
