Vane Brothers Company - Customer Case Study

Vane Brothers Company, a marine transportation firm experiencing rapid growth, needed new tug-and-barge units to expand its bunkering fleet. To support this buildout, the company selected Cummins-powered propulsion and generator systems for its first of three new ATB tugs, the *Assateague*, with additional vessels planned.

Cummins supplied a pair of QSK60M Tier 3 engines rated at 2,200 HP each, along with QSB7-DM-powered 125 kW generators and a 60 kW emergency generator. The result was a high-powered ATB tug configured for 80,000-barrel barges, delivering the propulsion and onboard electrical capacity needed for Vane Brothers’ expanding operations, with the vessels classed ABS-A1 TUG, AMS, ABCU.
