Universo Online (UOL), Brazil’s leading internet portal, opened a new datacenter in São Paulo to safely process and store user information and transactions. Because the facility needed highly reliable power for 24/7 operations, UOL turned to Cummins and its C2500 D6 60Hz generator sets with Power Command™ control modules for emergency standby and peak-shaving support.
Cummins implemented four generator sets delivering up to 3,125 kVA standby power each, with a total system capacity of 12.5 MVA, alongside a 21 kV substation and 18 hours of autonomous backup at full load for one unit. The solution was installed in a difficult third-basement location with joint project management from Cummins and UOL, helping UOL achieve reliable power, lower costs, faster delivery, and greater power density for its new datacenter.
