Traditional Wood for Traditional Fishing Grounds

Truong Sa is a Vietnamese offshore fishing vessel owner operating in a fleet of mid-size wooden boats built for work in deeper waters. The challenge was equipping new vessels for rugged fishing conditions while meeting government requirements that called for a new engine from a respected manufacturer such as Cummins.

Cummins supplied the 800 HP KTA38-M0 main engine for Truong Sa and similar new-build fishing vessels in the Mekong Delta. The engine helped support the government-encouraged boat construction program, while the boats were also built with modern wood-and-fiberglass construction methods for durability.
