A Cummins Case Study
TOR Group needed a solution to support Ghana’s port expansion and rising cargo traffic, including the addition of three new ship-docking tugs for Tema and Takoradi. To meet this growing demand, the customer turned to Cummins for propulsion, fire-fighting, and power generation equipment for the new RAstar 3300-series tugboats.
Cummins supplied a pair of QSK95 main engines for each tug, along with a QSK38-M fire pump engine and QSB7DM generator sets to support onboard electrical needs. The package was designed to deliver 80 tons or greater bollard pull, speeds up to 13 knots, and Fi-Fi 1 capability, helping TOR Group build tugs with strong performance, reliable power, and unrestricted navigation class notation.
