A Cummins Case Study
Tartu University Hospital, a major medical institution in Tartu, Estonia, needed standby power for a new hospital extension to protect critical operations in the event of a utility failure. Cummins supplied a C2250 D5 generator set with a PowerCommand® controller (PCC) to meet the hospital’s emergency power requirements and integrate with its existing electrical systems.
Cummins implemented a 2250 kVA standby power solution powered by a 16-cylinder QSK60-G4 engine and STAMFORD® alternator, along with a 7,500-litre underground fuel tank that can support up to 48 hours of operation. The PowerCommand features enabled soft, no-break transfer back to mains and seamless coordination with the hospital’s switchgear, helping ensure uninterrupted power for critical equipment while supporting compliance with healthcare emergency power standards.
