Case Study: Target Field achieves reliable standby power with Cummins Power Generation

A Cummins Case Study

Preview of the Target Field Case Study

Target Field - Customer Case Study

Target Field, the new home of the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis, needed reliable standby power for a high-profile, LEED Silver-certified ballpark with critical electrical loads supporting games, events, and daily operations. Cummins provided the stadium with standby diesel generator sets and automatic transfer switches to ensure the facility could maintain operations during any outage.

Cummins implemented one 1000 kW DQFAD generator set, one 800 kW DQFAB generator set, and six PowerCommand OTPC automatic transfer switches, with each system backing up about half of the ballpark’s critical loads. The solution was integrated with the building management system and remote annunciation, helping Target Field support uninterrupted operations for baseball games and other events while contributing to the venue’s smart, efficient design.
