A Cummins Case Study
Super Frango, the São Salvador poultry processing plant in Itaberaí, Brazil, needed a reliable and economical power strategy to handle peak demand periods under a time-of-day utility rate. After evaluating options in Brazil and abroad, the company turned to Cummins for a peaking power solution using generator sets and digital paralleling controls.
Cummins implemented a system of five C400D6 456 kVA generator sets, equipped with PowerCommand 3100 paralleling and transfer controls, to seamlessly switch between utility and generator power. The solution provides up to 2,280 kVA for the facility and helps Super Frango save up to 30% during the three daily peak-cost hours, while supporting quiet, safe, and scalable operations for future growth.
