A Cummins Case Study
STX Engine Co. Ltd., a major ship engine manufacturer in South Korea, needed reliable emergency generator sets for new vessels that could operate independently during a crisis at sea. The company relied on Cummins marine diesel engines, including models such as the 4BT-D(M), KTA19-D(M), and QSK60-D(M), to meet varying ship size and classification requirements.
Cummins provided emergency gen-set solutions built around its marine engines, equipped with independent starting systems and radiator cooling for автономous operation. The result was a highly trusted emergency power lineup used in about 70% of Korea’s shipyard installations, with units ranging from 45 kW to 1,700 kW and exported worldwide, including a 350 kW KTA19-D(M) set shipped to Romania for a container ship project.
