Strategic Marine - Customer Case Study

Strategic Marine, a Singapore-based shipbuilder, faced a difficult market downturn in worldwide demand for new crewboats but still needed to deliver a capable, ABS-certified vessel for Baruna Raya Logistics of Indonesia. For the Colibri I crew boat, they relied on Cummins marine engines and generator power for propulsion and onboard electrical needs.

Cummins supplied three KTA38 M2 engines rated at 1200 HP each, along with two 6BT 5.9D-powered 80 kW generators, helping the 31-meter vessel achieve a 24-knot service speed and support fire pump capability, passenger accommodations, and extended fuel and water capacity. The result was a versatile, high-performance crew boat successfully delivered from Strategic Marine’s Singapore shipyard.
