Steel-hulled Crew Boats for Brunei

Strategic Marine, an Australia-based builder of high-performance crew boats, needed a propulsion and power package for a new set of 42-meter steel-hulled crew boats for PTAS Marine in Brunei. The vessels had to balance durability, speed, and capacity while supporting crew, rig workers, emergency survivors, cargo, and onboard fire-fighting systems.

Cummins supplied the marine power solution, including three IMO Tier II compliant propulsion engines per vessel: one KTA50-M2 and two KTA38-M2 engines, plus Cummins 6BT5.9-powered generators and QSJ11-D(M) engines for the bow thrusters. This setup delivered 4,500 HP total, enabling the boats to reach 20 knots at 85% MCR, while supporting reliable operation and strength for the steel-hulled fleet of ten vessels.
