Six 3200-HP Tugs Delivered

Rajang Maju Marine Industries, a shipyard serving coastal marine operators in Malaysia, needed reliable propulsion and onboard power for a new series of tugboats being delivered to Coastal Contracts Bhd. The project called for proven marine engines and generator sets that could support heavy-duty towing and unrestricted navigation service.

Cummins provided the power package for the six 32-meter tugs: twin KTA50 main engines rated at 1,600 HP each, plus two Cummins 6BT5.9-D(M) engines driving 80 kW generators. The resulting vessels were delivered with 40-ton bollard pull, 40-ton towing capability, and fully equipped deck and control systems, giving the operator a robust tug fleet ready for work.
