Simon Møkster Shipping - Customer Case Study

Simon Møkster Shipping needed a highly capable multi-purpose support vessel for sub-sea research and ROV operations that could work globally, operate close to shore, and maintain precise dynamic positioning in demanding conditions. To meet these requirements, the company selected Cummins marine diesel engines for the vessel’s diesel-electric power system, continuing its use of Cummins after the success of its earlier PSV, Stril Mariner.

Cummins supplied four diesel-electric units using two QSK60 and two QSK50 marine engines to drive generators that power propulsion, onboard systems, and DP2 redundancy. The solution supports the vessel’s two 1600 kW azimuthing thrusters, a 70-ton active heave compensated crane, and multiple bow thrusters, enabling 14.2-knot speed and accurate ROV positioning for efficient sub-sea data collection.
