Silverburn Ice-Class AHT for Caspian Ops

Silverburn Shipping, a London-based operator with a large fleet in the Caspian Sea, needed a new ice-class anchor handling tug for extremely shallow and icy Northern Caspian operations. Working with Cummins, the company specified a larger 49.6 x 15.8 Ice Class 1A tug to deliver strong towing and handling performance in harsh winter conditions.

Cummins supplied two QSK60-M Tier 2 main engines for the Arctic, along with KTA19-C generator sets and smaller auxiliary gensets, all supported through its global marine network. The result was a 4,400-HP tug that still achieved 50 tons of bollard pull, could operate in ice up to 80 cm thick, and was equipped for Fi-Fi-1 firefighting service and worldwide charter support.
