A Cummins Case Study
SIBS Data Centre, part of SIBS Portugal in Lisbon, needed a highly reliable standby power solution to protect one of Europe’s largest payment processing operations from utility outages. Cummins supplied a standby power system to support the data centre’s critical electronic payment services, including card transactions, ATMs, point-of-sale, online, and mobile payments.
Cummins implemented four generator sets — one C2250 D5 and three C825 D5A models — with a parallel switchboard PCC 3100P and remote monitoring, while the larger unit was housed in a 40-foot noise-attenuated container and the smaller sets used remote cooling. The solution delivered 3.8MVA of standby emergency power and enabled the facility to operate 24/7, 365 days a year, helping ensure service continuity with no interruption during power blackouts.
