Shopping Interlagos - Customer Case Study

Shopping Interlagos, a large shopping center in São Paulo, Brazil, needed a reliable and cost-effective way to supply growing power demands, especially with plans to add air conditioning. The mall chose Cummins and its 1,750 kW lean-burn natural gas generator set with PowerCommand® digital master control for standby power, combined heat and power, and peak shaving.

Cummins implemented a two-phase CHP solution that uses natural gas to generate electricity and capture waste heat for chilled water production. The first phase installed one 1,750 kW generator set, with a second planned to bring total capacity to 3,500 kW and 1,280 RT of cooling, helping Shopping Interlagos cut power costs by up to 30% during peak hours while improving reliability and reducing environmental impact.
