A Cummins Case Study
Shiprepairs.pl Ltd, a Polish shipyard contractor operating in Szczecin and Swinoujscie, needed reliable marine propulsion and onboard power for a complex new fishing vessel build while also carrying out major vessel conversion work. The customer was building a 20.99-meter longliner and other fishing vessels to demanding Norwegian specifications, requiring efficient, high-quality equipment that could support modern freezer-hold and deck systems.
Cummins supplied the marine power solution for the vessel: a keel-cooled Cummins K38-M main engine rated at 746 kW (1000 HP) Continuous Duty, along with two Cummins QSM11-powered generator sets providing 248 kW of 60 Hz power each. The result was a compliant, efficient propulsion and electrical setup supporting the vessel’s gear, shaft, controllable-pitch propeller, freezing equipment, and 150 hp bow thruster, helping Shiprepairs.pl deliver sophisticated vessels to international standards with competitive cost and quality.
