Seaspan Marine - Customer Case Study

Seaspan Marine operates tugboats on the Fraser River and needed to keep its Seaspan Venture working reliably after years of daily service. The vessel’s Cummins KTA38 M0 engines had already reached more than 42,000 hours, and the company wanted to align a repower with scheduled Transport Canada inspections to minimize downtime.

Cummins supplied a third like-for-like repower with a new pair of KTA38 M0 engines, each rated at 850 HP at 1800 RPM. The work was completed in early February 2016, and Seaspan Marine returned the tug to service with another 40,000-plus hours of expected operating life, preserving the proven vessel design and maintaining its towing performance.
