Saudi Electricity Company - Customer Case Study

Saudi Electricity Company faced the challenge of supporting a large district energy demand with a more efficient, low-carbon power solution. In the Hongqiao CBD trigeneration case, the project used Cummins Power Generation gas generator sets as part of a combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) system to deliver electricity, chilled water, hot water, and winter heating.

Cummins implemented eight 1,400 kW lean-burn gas generator sets with heat recovery, silencers, sound-attenuated enclosures, absorption chillers, and control systems to create a flexible centralized energy station. The solution enabled 11.2 MW of combined installed capacity across the two stations and boosted natural gas utilization to 83.6% for cooling and 86% for heating, cutting emissions and reducing operating and maintenance costs versus conventional mains-and-split-air-conditioning approaches.
