Rozema Boat Works - Customer Case Study

Rozema Boat Works, the Bayview, Washington skiff builder, worked with Cummins to equip a new Alaska seine skiff for owner Swen Gildnes. The challenge was to improve skiff handling and reduce delays during fishing operations, especially when passing lines to the seiner and operating in tight, foggy, nearshore conditions.

Cummins supplied a QSB 6.7L 305 bhp engine with Twin Disc reduction gearing for the 19-foot aluminum skiff, paired with a steerable cast-aluminum nozzle and other performance-focused hardware. The result was a lighter, more efficient tow-off boat with about 6,000 pounds of bollard pull and roughly 30% more thrust from the nozzle, helping the skiff operate smoothly and quickly while supporting faster, more reliable set work for Rozema Boat Works and Swen Gildnes.
