Rotorua Hospital - Customer Case Study

Rotorua Hospital in Rotorua, New Zealand needed to upgrade and expand its standby power capacity as part of an $83 million redevelopment, while keeping critical medical services running. Cummins was chosen to help provide a reliable, fully integrated power system, including diesel generator sets, a paralleling control system, switchgear, and automatic transfer switches.

Cummins implemented two C400D5 generator sets, one C1100D5 generator set, a PowerCommand Digital Master Control 1000 paralleling system, and four BTPC closed-transition automatic transfer switches, along with a new fuel system and a temporary 900 kVA generator during the changeover. The solution enabled seamless transfer back to mains power, controlled testing without interrupting hospital operations, and automatic load shedding for better protection, giving Rotorua Hospital a secure, first-class standby power system with single-point support from Cummins.
