A Cummins Case Study
Rose Poultry, a chicken production facility in Vinderup, Denmark, needed a more efficient and environmentally compliant way to meet its large electricity, heat, and steam demands. Vendor Cummins provided a 2 MW GQNC lean-burn natural gas generator set for combined heat and power (CHP), replacing two 900 kW generator sets.
Cummins implemented a pre-integrated cogeneration system using its QSV91 lean-burn engine and PowerCommand control technology, with installation support from local partners. The solution produces about 11.5 million kWh of electricity annually—roughly 72% of the plant’s power use—plus 11,000 MW of heat, 5,300 MW of steam, and 3,700 MW of heat for a nearby village, while also meeting Danish standards for emissions and efficiency with significantly reduced NOx and improved fuel economy.
