A Cummins Case Study

Preview of the Walker and Son Hauliers Ltd Case Study

Rigid Gas Power Helps Transport Company Meet National Energy Goals

Walker and Son Hauliers Ltd., a fourth-generation transport and commercial property business in Doncaster, U.K., needed a reliable, responsive power partner to support its new capacity market business while meeting National Grid connection requirements, strict emissions rules, and urban noise limits. Cummins was selected to provide U.K.-manufactured gas power equipment and a turnkey solution, including containerized generator sets, controls, and commissioning support.

Cummins installed 25 C2000N5C 2MW QSV91G containerized gas generator sets across three sites, delivering 50MW of fast-start, transient-capable power with remote monitoring through PowerCommand 3300 and DMC 8000 systems. The solution met MCPD, G59 and G99 compliance requirements and a 75 dBA noise limit, helping Walker and Son achieve minimal downtime and rapid grid response; the successful rollout also led to follow-on orders for two additional sites in Dinnington.
