Powerplay Catamarans - Customer Case Study

Powerplay Catamarans, a builder of custom luxury catamarans based in Thailand, needed reliable, efficient propulsion for its latest 20-meter vessel while balancing speed, economy, range, maneuverability, and quiet operation. The company wanted an engine package that would support its design goals and still deliver strong performance for private and charter-style boating.

Cummins supplied twin QSC 8.3 marine engines, each rated at 600 HP, with an option for Zeus pod drives and joystick control. The result was a catamaran that reached 25 knots on sea trials and completed an 850-mile delivery trip to Singapore using only two of three fuel tanks. Powerplay Catamarans also reported excellent handling, smooth operation, and “sensible economy” with the Cummins QSC8.3.
