PIRIOU, the French shipyard, needed a proven marine propulsion solution for its expanding Fast Passenger/Supply Vessel family, including a new smaller FPSV40 design. The challenge was to maintain the successful hull concept while balancing passenger comfort, cargo capacity, and speed for coastal and offshore operations.

Cummins supplied KTA50-M2 marine engines for the vessels: four engines on the 53-meter ships and three engines on the smaller FPSV40, with outputs tailored to each application. The Cummins solution supported speeds of about 18 knots loaded, 27 knots light boat, and 25 knots at 85 MCR with passengers onboard, helping PIRIOU bring a versatile, high-performance vessel design to market.
