Penguin Delivers Powerful Flex-38S Crewboat

Penguin International Limited needed a fast, versatile crewboat that could carry workers and cargo efficiently while meeting demanding marine safety and class requirements. To power its new Flex-38S design, Penguin chose Cummins marine engines and auxiliary systems for the MV Abba, including KTA-38-M2 main engines and 6BT5.9-DM1 generator engines.

Cummins delivered a propulsion and power package that enabled the MV Abba to achieve 27 knots at 100% MCR and 26 knots in fuel-saving mode at 85% MCR, while carrying up to 90 passengers and 31.5 MT deadweight. The vessel also gained robust deck capacity, FiFi capability, and full SOLAS/MARPOL/IMDG compliance, helping Penguin International Limited launch what it called the world’s fastest triple-screw Cummins-powered crewboat.
