Oceanjet, Building to a Proven Design

Oceanjet, operated by Ocean Fast Ferries Corporation in the Philippines, needed a fast ferry design tailored to its inter-island routes and passenger demands. To support its growing fleet, the company worked with Cummins as part of a proven vessel platform for a 33.99-by-7.2-meter ferry with capacity for 357 passengers.

Cummins powered the Oceanjet 388 with a pair of KTA50-M2 engines, each rated at 1800 HP at 1900 RPM, paired with ZF 5050A gears and propellers to deliver a 30-knot design speed. The vessel became the seventh in a successful series of sister ships, helping Oceanjet expand reliable service between Tagbilaran, Bohol and Cebu while confirming the strength of the design and components.
