North Arm Transport - Customer Case Study

North Arm Transportation, a BC coast fuel and marine logistics company, needed a more powerful and reliable tug to safely handle fuel and heavy-equipment deliveries in remote, water-only-access areas. For its new 64-foot 9-inch tug, North Arm Transportation chose Cummins KTA38-M marine main engines to support the vessel’s towing and maneuvering needs.

Cummins supplied a pair of KTA38-M engines, each rated at 1000 HP at 1800 RPM, to drive twin Veth Z-drives through Vulkan torsional flexible couplings and composite shafts. The new setup improves safety and handling for barges in isolated ports while also supporting ship-assist work; North Arm Transportation also added fuel monitors to improve environmental and operating efficiency.
