NEXTDC Data Center, an Australian operator of enterprise-class facilities, needed a reliable backup power solution for its Brisbane B1 data center to support high-availability cloud services. Facing a short delivery timeline and tight physical space constraints, the company turned to Cummins for a tailored standby power system.
Cummins implemented 5.4 MW of standby power using three Cummins C2250 generator sets powered by QSK60 engines, along with DMC1000 digital master control systems. The solution provided N+1 redundancy, seamless transfer back to mains power, and support for maintenance testing without disrupting operations, helping NEXTDC achieve Tier 3 performance with 99.982% availability.
