News Corp Australia - Customer Case Study

News Corp Australia, headquartered in Sydney and operating a 24-hour data centre that supports major national newspaper production, needed a highly reliable emergency power system to protect critical operations during mains outages. Cummins was selected for its product quality, technology, and support, with the solution built around three C350 D5 generator sets, PowerCommand 3100 digital paralleling equipment, and a DMC1000 digital master control system.

Cummins implemented a turn-key upgrade that included a temporary 750 kVA generator during installation so the existing plant could be replaced without interrupting operations. The new system was installed, tested, and commissioned in just four weeks, delivering automatic backup power within 10 seconds of a mains failure and improving fuel efficiency by running the minimum number of generators needed. News Corp Australia reported that the installation and Cummins support were excellent.
