News Corp Australia - Customer Case Study

News Corp Australia, the Australian news and publishing group headquartered in Sydney, needed a highly reliable emergency power system for its 24/7 data centre to keep newspaper production and worldwide operations running without interruption. Cummins supplied the generator solution, including three C350 D5 generator sets with PowerCommand 3100 digital paralleling equipment and a DMC1000 digital master control system.

Cummins implemented a turn-key emergency power upgrade that included a temporary 750 kVA generator to maintain service during installation, then replaced the plant room equipment and fully tested the new system in four weeks. The final setup enables the UPS and generator sets to keep power restored within 10 seconds of a mains failure, while the DMC1000 optimizes fuel use by running the minimum number of generators needed. The result was a reliable, efficiently managed backup power system backed by strong installation and support from Cummins.
