New Yard Builds for Excellence

New Generation Shipbuilding, a Houma, Louisiana shipyard, needed reliable propulsion and auxiliary power for its latest 75 x 30 x 10-foot inland pushboat, the Rex Dobson, built for Martin Marine. The vessel required a compact, high-horsepower engine package suited to towboat service and long operating days on inland waterways.

Cummins supplied a pair of QSK38-M main engines, each rated at 1,000 HP at 1,800 RPM, along with two Cummins 6BTA5.9-liter powered 85 kW generators for auxiliary power. The result was a fully commissioned pushboat with proven power and onboard electrical support for crew accommodations and deck equipment, helping New Generation Shipbuilding deliver a vessel tailored to Martin Marine’s inland fleet needs.
