New Tug for Harbour Administration

Shoft Shipyard built a new tug, GMB 3, for the Gujarat Maritime Board to support port operations along India’s west coast. The challenge was to deliver a compact but powerful harbour tug with strong towing capability, reliable onboard power, and accommodation for crew and passengers.

Cummins supplied two QSK60-M marine diesel engines, each rated at 2000 HP at 1800 RPM, for the tug’s propulsion system. Combined with Schottel azimuthing drives, the vessel achieved a bollard pull of 41 tons at 85% MCR and was delivered within one year of keel laying. The 33 x 10.5-meter tug also included Cummins-powered propulsion and helped provide the GMB with a modern, classed port support vessel.
