Case Study: PIRIOU builds a high-performance crew boat with Cummins marine engines

New Design Draws Attention

PIRIOU needed reliable propulsion and onboard power for a new Fast Pax and Supply Vessel, the Bourbon Sirocco, designed for fast crew changes and offshore platform support. The vessel had to combine high speed, dynamic positioning capability, passenger transport, and heavy deck-cargo capacity in a compact hull.

Cummins supplied the marine power package for the vessel, including four KTA50-M2 main engines, two 6CTA 8.3 D(M) generator engines, and two 6CTA 8.3 D(M) engines for hydraulic pumps. This solution helped power the waterjets, alternators, hydraulic systems, and bow thrusters, enabling the vessel to meet its performance targets and class requirements for HSC crew boat, DP2, and fire-fighting service.
