A Cummins Case Study
Inace Shipyard, a leading Brazilian builder of steel and aluminum vessels, needed reliable marine propulsion for a new fast supply vessel for Tidewater Inc. The shipyard worked with Cummins and its marine engines to power the vessel’s demanding offshore operations.
Cummins supplied four KTA50 M2 diesel engines for the Karen Tide II, each producing 1,342 kW and driving the vessel through ZF gears and four-blade propellers. The solution helped the 51.8-meter crewboat reach 21 knots on sea trials while supporting strong cargo and passenger capacities, including seating for 50 passengers and up to 371 metric tons of cargo.
