A Cummins Case Study
Servicios Navales e Industriales, S.A. de C.V. (SENI), a shipbuilder in Mazatlán, Mexico, was expanding its repair and new-construction business while aiming to strengthen its ability to build larger commercial vessels domestically. To support this growth and meet demand for locally built ships, SENI worked with Cummins Marine on power solutions for a new series of crewboats.
Cummins supplied four KTA50-M2 marine engines for each of the 52-meter crewboats Aramara and Lluavi, delivering 1,800 HP at 1,900 RPM and paired with Twin Disc gearboxes. The vessels were completed and delivered in 2009 and 2010, marking an important milestone as the first offshore boats built in a private Mexican yard with private money, and helping SENI enhance its skills, facilities, and reputation as an independent builder.
