Lummi Island Wild - Customer Case Study

Lummi Island Wild, a manager and marketer of reef net salmon catches in Washington, needed a purpose-built tender to support a highly specialized fishery that handles heavy anchors, live-bled fish, and large volumes of iced totes. To meet these operational demands, the company worked with Cummins and Mavrik Marine to design a unique aluminum workboat, the F/V Galactic Ice, with the layout and cargo-handling features required for reef net fishing.

Cummins supplied a pair of 410 HP QSL9 marine diesel engines for the vessel, paired with ZF325 IV gears, delivering reliable propulsion for the new tender. The finished boat can carry up to 130,000 pounds, load fish efficiently via hydraulic bulwarks and a deck crane, and help protect fish quality during transfer and transport to the processor in Bellingham, giving Lummi Island Wild a highly practical and efficient solution for its fishery.
