LA Carriers - Customer Case Study

LA Carriers, a Louisiana-based maritime transport company, needed a dependable engine solution for its pusher-tug Lady Loren as its fleet accumulated heavy operating hours. The vessel was powered by three Cummins QSK19-M3 diesel engines, and the company wanted to keep downtime low while maintaining performance across demanding Gulf Coast towing and pushing routes.

Cummins supported a rebuild of the Lady Loren’s middle engine without removing it from the boat, replacing shaft bearings, pistons, rods, heads, and injectors. The work revealed the parts still had enough life for an estimated additional 4,000 hours, and LA Carriers planned to delay rebuilding the other two engines until they reached about 40,000 hours each. The customer credited Cummins quality and maintenance guidance for the engines’ long life and said future replacements would also be Cummins.
