A Cummins Case Study

Preview of the SK Broadband Case Study

Korea’s fastest Internet provider won over by Cummins Power Generatio

SK Broadband, a major telecommunications and broadband provider in Seoul, South Korea, needed highly reliable standby power to protect operations at its Seo Cho Building and Il San Information Building. With growing demand for internet, IPTV, and cloud-based services, even brief downtime could disrupt service and damage customer trust, so the company sought a dependable integrated power solution from Cummins.

Cummins Power Generation supplied a fully integrated standby power system consisting of five generator sets: two 2,500 kW DQLC gensets with QSK78G6 engines at Seo Cho Building and three C2250D6A gensets with QSK60G9 engines at Il San Building. The solution included seamless controller/paralleling integration, installation, testing, commissioning, and ongoing support, giving SK Broadband reliable backup power and round-the-clock service confidence; the company also planned to add two more 2,250 kW generator sets in 2012.
