KBC Bank - Customer Case Study

KBC Bank and its Hungarian subsidiary K&H needed reliable standby power for a mirrored pair of data centres in Törökbálint and Baracska, Hungary. With downtime unacceptable for financial-sector operations, the bank looked for a tailored solution that could fit a restricted footprint, meet strict sound limits, and allow for future expansion. Cummins supplied the standby power package using C3000 D5 generator sets with QSK78 engines and PCC 3.3 controls.

Cummins implemented four generator sets across the two sites, supported by a compact direct-cooling design, compliant acoustic treatment, and redundant fuel systems with 72 hours of runtime at 100% load. The solution also included automatic transfer, remote control, and monthly load testing for seamless operation. As a result, KBC Bank received a lower-cost, fully compliant standby power installation that met current needs and leaves space to increase capacity by 50% in the future.
