A Cummins Case Study
Sterling Marine Ltd. needed a dependable propulsion setup for a new 86-by-24-foot scalloper being built by Jemison Marine for a northeast U.S. client. Working with **Cummins**, the project centered on a marine main engine solution for the vessel, which was designed for commercial fishing service and required reliable power for its operating profile.
**Cummins** supplied a QSK19-M marine engine rated at 600 HP at 1800 RPM, paired with a 5.5-inch shaft and a 73.25 x 74-inch propeller in a nozzle. The installation supported the vessel’s launch target of mid-April 2013 and helped deliver a practical, efficient trawler configuration with a large covered working deck, dedicated crew accommodations, and integrated winch arrangements.
