A Cummins Case Study
International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), a leading port management company in Manila, Philippines, needed a reliable standby power solution for Berth 6 to keep container terminal operations running safely during a utility outage. ICTSI turned to Cummins Power Generation for a complete integrated system, including diesel generator sets and power control equipment, because the project required more than just individual components—it needed a dependable, engineered backup power package.
Cummins Power Generation delivered a 7MW standby power solution made up of four containerized C2000D6 diesel generator sets, a PowerCommand® DMC 200 paralleling system, a load bank, transformer, neutral ground resistor panel, and fuel tanks. The system was designed to synchronize in six seconds, manage reverse power from quay cranes, and integrate with existing switchgear, helping minimize downtime and support continuous port operations. The successful installation led to a strong ongoing partnership, with Cummins Power Generation beginning work on a follow-on project at ICTSI’s Berth 5.
