A Cummins Case Study
Infratil Energy Australia, part of Infratil’s energy infrastructure business, needed additional fast-start peaking power capacity to meet short-term peak load demand in South Australia. To support this, Cummins Power Generation supplied a turnkey solution for the Port Stanvac Power Station using 36 C2250 D5 generator sets with QSK60 G4 engines, PCC control units, and a DMC 300 Master Controller.
Cummins Power Generation delivered, commissioned, and continues to operate and maintain the plant, which provides 57.6 MW of electrical output. The project also overcame a major site challenge by relocating, reconditioning, and recommissioning the existing Lonsdale Power Station nearby. The result is a low-utilization plant that operates about 50 hours per year, starts within five minutes, and meets strict noise and emissions requirements, including NOx levels below South Australian EPA minimums.
